Best Citizenship by Investment: CBI Index 2018

Number one option for economic citizenship

For the second consecutive year, Dominica’s 25-year-old Citizenship by Investment Programme (CBI) has emerged as the world’s number one option for economic citizenship, while the Caribbean stayed on top as the most successful region with respect to the performance of CBI programmes.

Professional Wealth Management (PWM), a publication of the Financial Times, ranked the Caribbean island as number one out of 13 citizenship by investment jurisdictions due to its excellence in key areas including, ease of processing, due diligence, citizenship timeline, and investment outlay, to name a few.

WHY PAY FOR SOMETHING YOU CAN GET FOR FREE

Dominica received a perfect score for its citizenship timeline. According to PWM, Dominica takes two months or less to process its applications – an achievement, which though being the norm for the island nation, is something other islands, such as St. Kitts and Nevis, offer at an additional premium cost.

EFFICIENCY WITHOUT COMPROMISING QUALITY

One may assume that given the fast processing time of Dominica’s programme, the country may achieve low scores for its treatment of the due diligence process. This couldn’t be further from the truth. According to PWM, the island ranked number one for due diligence, along with other Caribbean programmes, such as Antigua & Barbuda, and St. Kitts and Nevis. The achievement, stated PWM, demonstrates that “efficiency can be achieved without compromising quality.

HASSLE FREE AND TRANSPARENT

Unlike other programmes, including Antigua’s, Dominica’s Citizenship by Investment Programme never requires interested applicants or new economic citizens to live in or ever visit Dominica. Even individuals, who acquire the country’s citizenship through the real estate option, and later decide to sell their property, can do so without fear of losing their citizenship, as long as the property is kept for three to five years. The programme’s ease and transparency, as lauded by PWM, demonstrates the value that 25 years of experience in the Citizenship by Investment Industry adds to programme processes.
