CBI Index 2021 Ranks Dominica Best Citizenship by Investment Programme for 5th consecutive year

On August 18th, the Financial Times’ Professional Wealth Management magazine released its fifth annual CBI Index.

The Dominica Citizenship by Investment Programme was ranked #1 in the CBI Index 2021, a comprehensive study of all citizenship by investment programmes around the world compiled by Private Wealth Management (PWM) experts, a publication of the Financial Times.

Best Citizenship by Investment Programme

Dominica has been named the Best Citizenship by Investment Programme for the fifth consecutive year and is a leader in the immigration industry due to its streamlined citizenship process, multi-tiered citizenship due diligence system, attractive prices, and quick response to market needs.

  • During the coronavirus pandemic, the Dominica citizenship programme continues to operate steadily. In July 2020, Dominica expanded opportunities for the family by allowing the inclusion on one citizenship application: the main applicant, wife or husband, children, sisters and brothers, parents, and grandparents. Additionally, it is now possible to add on family members after obtaining citizenship.

  • In March 2021, the “Work in Nature” long-term visa programme was launched, inviting families of “digital nomads” and remote workers to move to the island for up to 18 months to work remotely and live-in nature. Dominica ranked in the world’s top ten safest countries with the lowest number of reported cases of coronavirus and a stable environment for more than a year and a half since the start of the pandemic, whereby residents did not experience severe restrictions or tremendous changes in lifestyle.

Commitment to high standards

The CBI Index 2021 study notes that maintaining high standards for due diligence of candidates for citizenship ensures long-term success for second citizenship programmes. For over 25 years, the programme has been tried, tested, and proven to be well-structured and highly respected in the global market. “Dominica’s CBI Programme was launched in 1993, and is known for being one of the world’s most efficient and transparent options for economic citizenship,” – said in the report.

Dominica received the highest scores and first place in the categories:

  • Minimum Investment Outlay.
  • Mandatory Travel and Reside: not required.
  • Ease of Process.
  • Due Diligence.
  • Family inclusion.
  • Certainty of the product.

Rising demand for citizenship programmes

The CBI Index 2021 highlights the rising interest in obtaining citizenship by investment as investors are looking for legitimate solutions to overcome the constraints caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

Both private banks and law firms report increased interest among clients seeking new citizenships and passports since the advent of the pandemic. Wealthy investors, say commentators, only began to appreciate mobility once it was abruptly withdrawn due to Covid,” – noted Yuri Bender, PWM Editor in Chief.
