America Airlines announced the opening of a new route to the Caribbean from Miami International Airport (MIA). Direct flights to Dominica will commence from December 8, 2021. The airline will operate arrival and departure flights weekly every Wednesday and Saturday.

“We have been strategically growing our route network to give customers more choices to new destinations, better meeting the demand for travel to Miami, the Caribbean and Latin America,” said Juan Carlos Liscano, Vice President of MIA Hub Operations. “As American’s largest international gateway, we are proud to continue to strengthen our presence at our Miami hub, reaching pre-pandemic levels of flying this year.”
Dominica is ranked 11th in the world among countries that have managed to prevent the spread of coronavirus, maintaining a stable and safe environment throughout the pandemic.
The country opened its borders to foreigners from August 7, 2020. As of July 21, 2021, there were 196 people with coronavirus, 13 active cases and 0 deaths. About 45% of adults and 28% of the total population are fully vaccinated on the island.
