Dominica Passport: Visa-Free Travel to over 130 countries and territories.

Freedom of travel around the world is especially important for executives who often travel in search of new ventures and business solutions, in order to expand sales in foreign markets and to conclude deals with new partners. Business people prefer face-to-face communication, which allows them to regulate the course of important negotiations, but also creates additional opportunities for informal conversation that contributes to the establishment of trust and mutual understanding between people. The ability to fly to the desired country without delays and hassle is highly desired. Dominica citizens are free to travel to many countries around the world.

In this article you will find information on the following:

  • What is visa, visa-free travel, visa on arrival and e-visas.
  • Which countries Dominica citizens can travel to.
  • Whether the conditions for citizens who have obtained a passport by a birth certificate or by a certificate of naturalization are different.

What is a visa?

A visa is an official document of a foreign state that gives a foreign citizen the right to enter, exit or stay in the country for a specified period of time.

Visas are affixed or pasted into a citizen’s passport in the form of stickers, marks, seals, inserts, or stamps. Visas are issued through embassies or consulates, as well as visa centres of the country that the passport holder is going to visit.

The most popular types of visas:

  • Depending on who the visa is issued to: ordinary, official, or diplomatic visas.
  • By the number of entries into the country: single, double, or multiple visas.
  • By the nature of the trip: business, travel, student, work, and transit visas.

Each country has its own requirements for obtaining a visa. The procedure for obtaining a visa can be a time consuming and troublesome process and include:

  • Correctly drawing up, certifying and collecting a list of required documents;
  • Proving financial viability;
  • Undergoing a serious medical examination;
  • Visiting the embassy for an interview;
  • Paying all costs associated with obtaining a visa.

Most importantly, all of this takes up precious time and the result is not always guaranteed.

As a result, in some cases states sign visa waiver agreements with other states that establish a special visa regime among themselves. These may include:

  • Visa-free travel;
  • Facilitated or special conditions for entry;
  • A short processing time and a short list of required documents for a visa;
  • Agreements on the abolition of visas.

Visa-free travel

Visa-free travel is the ability to visit a state for a specified period without the need to obtain a visa by a virtue of a signed visa-free agreement between the governments of the two countries, or if the country being visited has unilaterally opened its borders to foreign citizens. Sometimes visa waiver agreements are concluded that restrict visits by passport type; for example, a visa-free travel is only for holders of diplomatic passports.

While most visa-free countries generally do not require more than an ordinary passport to pass customs, some countries may require other documents, such as proof of onward travel before allowing you to enter.

With visa-free travel, you can visit an extensive list of countries at any time without tedious expectations and additional costs.

Visa on arrival

A visa on arrival means that foreign citizens can obtain a visa for a set period immediately at customs upon entry into the country, without having to apply for it in advance.

At the same time, a traveller often, in addition to a passport, will need to comply with several minimum requirements:

  • Documents confirming further travel;
  • Hotel reservation for the period of stay in the country;
  • In some cases, payment of a visa fees and confirmation of an invitation.

E-visas

An e-visa is a permit to enter a state that can be issued online without leaving your home. An electronic visa is also issued for a specific time.

To obtain an e-visa in most countries, you will need to:

  • Fill out an electronic visa application form on the official website of the country you intend to visit;
  • Upload scanned supporting documents;
  • Pay duties and all necessary fees online.

After consideration of the application and its approval, a visa will be sent by e-mail, which must be printed and presented upon entry into the country.

E-visa differs from a regular visa due to the simplified procedures and the absence of the need to stand in lines at offices.
